Allenstown 16x Apartment Units

The design and construction of 16 new Units at Denham Street Allenstown incorporated 12x 1 bedroom units and 4x 2 bedroom units, associated car park and external works. Three categories of units were constructed, including platinum, gold and general. This project was awarded practical completion before the anticipated contract PC date.

Innovations

With this new build being on a levelled site, stormwater was an issue and concern to the Client. After discussions with NSB’s management and site foreman, an alternative stormwater plan was submitted for approval and installed to the required specification and standards. Since the construction of these units, Rockhampton received significant rainfall and the stormwater proved to work to its capacity.

Difficulties

Subcontractors complying with SWMS was a difficulty experienced on this project. NSB’s site foreman managed this by implementing SWMS task reviews whereby the site foreman would frequently check tasks of the subcontractors and document them, ensuring they were working in accordance with their SWMS. Daily prestarts were implemented with all subcontractors to reiterate the importance.
